soap about 1 year agosiel83 - The guy should be removed from the church (Matthew 18:17 & 1 Corinthians 5); once he turns from his sin & repents, he should be gently restored, and welcomed back to the fellowship. (Galatians 6:1, 2 Corinthians 2:6-9). 1 Corinthians 5 is where Paul is talks to the Corinthian church about a man who had his father's wife. Paul instructed the church to remove him. In 2 Corinthians 2, Paul's second letter to the Corinthian church, he is instructing the church to forgive the man of his sin. We see churches many times go to one extreme or the other. 1. The church doesn't want to seem "unloving" and so the blatant sinners claiming the name of Christ are allowed to stay, or 2. The church has a person removed, and never gives them a chance for restoration after they have repented. Yet, our God is all about restoration. This is what grace is all about. |
