About Me

I never know what to put in these boxes. Am I supposed to talk about how cool I? Well, in keeping with the traditional corny style of "about you" boxes - I deeply love God, aim to be a missionary, and currently work in the book publishing business for the Chickasaw Nation (that's a Native American tribe for those of you who are still reading, bless you.) And I dearly love my cat, MarcoPolo.

Knowing the Author.

About a week ago I was in a book store in Estes Park, CO and I found myself at the new books display. On the table was "People of the Whale; a novel". After reading the back I found it interesting and finally checked out the author. It just so happened that I'm friends with the author and while I knew she was publishing a collection of poems set for release this year I had no idea about the novel. I wanted to stop everyone in the store and say "hey everybody, I know this author! We're friends!" I felt such pride swell up in my chest and for a moment I kind of felt a little famous, as silly as that sounds. I was so proud of Linda and went straight home to write her an email telling her that her new book was on display at a bookstore 1,000 miles away and that I couldn't wait to read it.

I happened to be in Estes Park on vacation with my family. For those of you who have never been to Rocky Mountain National Park, it happens to be one of our country's greatest natural treasures. Every time I go I am struck by the absolute breath taking beauty. The grandness of the mountains with their boulders and waterfalls and snow. It's almost as if you can feel their youthfulness and vigor. Few things can compare to sitting at a crystal clear lake nestled between towering snow covered peaks. It's enough to just sit and stare at the awesomeness, but it's breathtaking to be in love with its Creator.

Every time I go I hear the same things, "it's just so incredible", "what beauty!", etc. All these people standing in awe of one of our Nation's last protected places and natural treasures. They marvel at the elk in the snow, or the waterfall splashing down smoothed boulders, or the serene mountain backdrop. And it is incredible and worthy of the gasps it causes its onlookers. But every single time such things come into view all I can think is "my God made this."

My God conceived this beauty in His beautiful mind and put it into being with His very hands. I just want to shout it out loud - "My God did this! Hey everyone, I know the author and we're friends!" Instead of feeling small in comparison with what has been made, I just feel loved. I feel a certain pride swell up in my chest and yes, I even feel a little famous because I'm not just friends with the author - I'm in love with author and I know with every fiber of my being just how loved I am in return. And to stare at great things He has made... I know that there is no limit to which He will not only go for me but can.

But then my heart breaks a little. How is is possible that a crowd of people can be awestruck by the same thing and only a few even know of the Creator and fewer still know Him? That's not just a little sad - it's tragic.

Hey,
I didn't know that you are looking towards missons? Stop by the minister's Network where I've got some ministers brewing up mutual support. . . http://zoecity.com/networks/chaplains And, I actually see girls answer that question about "build." One poor soul put 'pudgy?'

yes...you win a prize, but only for the Cross...

it was an amazing day. the Mountains of NC is some of the most breathtaking land in the US and we were walking and i looked up and saw the cross immediately. the rest of my family didn't see it, and i took the picture to show them later at home. it was only when they stood right where i was that they eventually saw it...now it's all i see in the picture...

well, that and a squashed duck...
